CitPuck Ready for What Should be "Great Year"
Citadel’s varsity hockey team is off to a strong start this season, 1-0-0 with a 7-1 victory over Lockview high school. The top goal scorer in the game was heartthrob Sam Legere with 3 goals, along with rookie defenceman Campbell Giffin receiving the first #armyhelmet of the season for his play during the game. The boys hockey team ended last year with a rough quarterfinals loss in provincials, but they are ready to bounce back with a roster of many few players excited for the upcoming season. They will be led by this year’s potential captain Ryan Sim
pson and potential assistant captains (or captains themselves) Glennn Homez (jr.), Jakobb Abbott and Andrew “Drysy” Drysdale for (hopefully) a strong season.
I was able to receive a series of quote from defenceman Ryan Simpson regarding how they plan on doing this year, “Really pumped for the year, we have a very solid, deep roster. With a solid forward lineup and great defencemen protecting two of the best goalies in the league, we have no holes that I️’m aware of. The boys are tight in the dressing room and everyone’s proud and excited to be a part of this team. Should be a great year.” So be sure to come out Saturday night to citadel’s Home opener and cheer on your Phoenix against the East Shore Schooners from 8-10 o’clock at the civic arena.
Should be a fun game as potential assistant captain Homez told me, “The boys are extremely fired up and excited to see everyone there”.
